About the artist

HÉLÈNE-LOUISE FALARDEAU, AFCA, SCA, IAF

Like the vast majority of watercolour enthusiasts, Louise appreciates its fluidity and transparency –however she also enjoys the depth and richness of its darks.

Although she paints in a variety of different fields, she is particularly drawn to portraits and people – her delight is to go beyond simple resemblance and uncover facets of her subject’s character and emotions.

Usually working on commission, she exhibits her work and participates regularly in juried competitions. Her paintings are regularly selected to be part of national exhibitions and have been part of some prestigious international exhibitions such as the American Watercolor Society at New-York in 2001 and AIM for Arts at Vancouver in 1999. In 2001; she won first prize in the Cover Contest of the North Light Book Club.

Louise is a signature member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, of the Canadian Watercolour Society (Société canadienne de l’aqualle, SCA), of the Figurative Arts Institute and of the Canadian Institute of Portrait Artists.
